Key points of Malaysia’s immunisation programme

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin launched the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme handbook which includes the information on the largest vaccination programme in Malaysia.

Speaking at the launch, the Prime Minister said the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine will arrive on February 21st and the rollout will begin on February 26th, where he will be among the first to receive the vaccine.

The Rakyat can now access the handbook through a website that launched simultaneously.

The handbook contains details on the types of Covid vaccines used by the government; the facilities provided store to them, and religious views on the vaccination and immunisation guidelines.

The Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee (JKJAV) infographic shows the immunisation plan encompasses four main components, namely vaccine supply, vaccination phase target group, location and method of implementation, and the workforce involved in implementing the immunisation programme.

There will be three phases of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme will roll out targeting 80% of the country’s population, or 26.5 million recipients, who will be inoculated for free.

Registration for the Covid-19 vaccination to members of the public is expected to kick off in March and will be on a volunteer basis.
