With the global population predicted to grow to approximately 10 billion by 2050, one of the biggest challenges is ensuring that there is enough food to feed everyone.
In light of this prediction, the Food and Agriculture Organisation has produced a report that considers how insect farming could be part of the answer to the problem of future food security. According to the report, the use of insects on a large scale as a feed ingredient is feasible, and established companies are already leading the way in this regard. Additionally, insects as feedstock for aquaculture and poultry feed are set to become more prevalent within the next decade.
