The Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM) represents private hospitals and medical centers in Malaysia. The association has been in existence since 1972 and has been instrumental in helping raise the standards for medical care within the country.
As a returning guest on Biztech Asia, Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh, President of the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia and Medical Director of Prince Court Medical Centre, spoke about the gaps that exist in Malaysia’s healthcare system that were exposed during the pandemic and the improvements made since then. A proponent of advocating private-public partnerships to fortify Malaysia’s healthcare system, he elaborated on the pivotal role of these partnerships, the stakeholders with whom APHM collaborates, and the initiatives undertaken by the association to encourage and facilitate private-public partnerships. Additionally, he discussed the resurgence in foreign patients seeking medical care in Malaysia, projections for growth in medical tourism in 2023, the key factors driving growth in this industry, and how the association envisions its role in boosting medical tourism in Malaysia.
