Biztech’s health and wellness show with Intellect is to provide you with information on health and wellness so that you, your family, and your workers may live a more productive and healthier life.
The Covid-19 pandemic has confronted the world with an unprecedented situation, disrupting and quickly changing the patterns in how people live and work. Since then, there has been an increased in the need for mental health services internationally.
The World Health Organisation reported a 400% rise in new depression and anxiety disorder diagnoses in 2021.
In Asia, we are seeing this tendency accelerate. However, one of the major difficulties in the region is that traditional methods to mental health are stigmatised, and current treatments are outmoded and not easily accessible to everybody.
We speak to Intellect, a modern-day mental health platform that brings accessible mental health and wellness assistance support to everyone. They claim to be Asia’s largest and fastest-growing mental health technology firm, with over a million customers, and has one of the most extensive networks of local providers and mental health practitioners in Asia, covering 12 countries and 11 languages.
Intellect has been named one of Google’s Best Apps for 2020.
Theodoric Chew, the CEO and co-founder, tells us the story behind Intellect and the inspiration to provide an end-to-end 24/7 mental healthcare system in a single app.
He explains the products and services they offer which help address the gaps between the existing mental healthcare system and accessibility, such as;
- Mental health benefits solution for employers, featuring clinically-based digitised therapy programmes along with telehealth services
- Consumer app that carries self-guided digitised therapy programmes based on cognitive behavioral therapy techniques
During the conversation, Thedoric also explains on user data and interactions as data confidentiality is a concern to many people. He says Intellect protects user privacy with zero-knowledge encryption, and the company is also compliant with major data privacy regulations like ISO, HIPAA and GDPR.
Theodoric shares with us who their key partners and customers are and says they are currently collaborating in ten studies with institutions like the National University of Singapore, King’s College London, University of Queensland and the Singapore General Hospital.
Finally, he shares Intellect’s plans moving forward after raising US$2.2 million in a funding round led by Insignia Ventures Partners.
