Since the pandemic hit, our concept of normal has been online. From purchases to planning, entertainment to communication and working, almost every aspect of our lives have gone digital. Today’s workforce is now coming to terms with the stark reality of accelerated digitization and the increasing need to reevaluate their skills as well as embark on new learning to prepare for the jobs of tomorrow.
According to the WeForum 2020 Report, companies estimate that around 40 percent of workers will require re-skilling for six months or less. Moreover, 94 percent of business leaders report that they expect employees to pick up new skills on the job.
As technology adoption grows, the need to reassess core skills for jobs will surface. Companies and employees have taken cognisance of this skill gap and talent scarcity with LinkedIn’s Workplace Learning Report 2021 indicating that 59 percent of learning and development professionals have made up-skilling and re-skilling programs as the top priority globally, with several organisations working towards building a skill-based workforce.
According to Apratim Purakayastha, Group CTO, Skillsoft, a global leader in digital learning, the answer to a rapidly digitized and dynamic world is lifelong learning.
