AT&S, founded in 1987 and headquartered in Leoben, Austria, is a global leader in the manufacturing of high-end printed circuit boards and integrated circuit (IC) substrates.
Andreas Gerstenmayer, the Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Management Board, talks about the company’s investment of RM8.13 billion production facility in Malaysia, the first in Southeast Asia, which will start commercial operations in 2024. The facility will focus on developing Malaysia’s semiconductor ecosystem while opening opportunities in advanced electronics through industry and training partnerships, and is expected to create high-skilled job opportunities for over 6,000 Malaysians.
He says AT&S plans to carry out extensive research and development activities which involve investigating cooperation and partnerships with leading universities in Malaysia.
AT&S’ new production plant will cater for the demand for the chip supply chain and bring the latest generation of high-end technologies to Malaysia at its new facility in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah.
