The tech industry has a long way to go when it comes to attracting more women to STEM. Not only that, research suggests that it needs to do a better job at helping them thrive once they enter the industry.
Various reports have shown that only about 13% of tech professionals are women and what is staggering is a study by Accenture which states that 50% of women abandon their tech careers by the age of 35 and that they’re leaving tech roles at a 45% higher rate than men.
In a candid conversation with #biztechasia Ruslana Reznikova, VP General Manager APAC & Eurasia from Croatian unicorn, Infobip spoke about the biggest obstacles to equality in tech. She also shared what it’s like to be a female leader in a fast paced, high pressure startup environment, including how Infobip empowers women to be leaders of the future whilst citing examples from the firm’s recent article which states that 40% of its employees are women and more than 32% of women hold leadership positions globally.
Additionally, Ruslana spoke about:
- Her rise to the top as a leader within the organization
- Her role as a leader and the challenges ahead for the next generation of female leaders
- The importance of self belief and prioritizing one’s goals
