A research conducted by UNESCO states that 32% of the tech workforce in Asia Pacific are female, and although the industry is driving change there is still a disproportionate number of men at all levels, particularly in leadership positions.
To get a female perspective on this research and the representation of women in the technology field, we spoke to Jill Macmurchy, the VP of Solutions Engineering & Customer Success at Confluent. As a female leader in tech, Jill shared her experience of working in this largely male dominated industry, the obstacles to achieving equality in tech, including the unconscious bias that exists in this industry. She also touched on what needs to be done to encourage girls to pursue STEM careers and the need for an ecosystem that nurtures and supports female leadership.
Additionally, Jill shared:
- A snapshot of Confluent and her role as the VP of Solutions Engineering & Customer Success
- Insights on how stakeholders are opening pathways for to pursue STEM careers
- How Confluent brings its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion commitments to life
- Leaders and leadership qualities she admires
