Since its inception in 1983 (as the Canada-Singapore Business Association), the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Singapore (CanCham Singapore) has grown into one of Singapore’s most recognized international business associations.
Presently, it is embarking on an exciting growth phase, providing more value to its members as a result of Asia’s ascendancy in global markets and Canada’s increased commercial engagement with Singapore and its neighbors.
Caroline Berube, President of The Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Singapore spoke to #biztechasia about the blossoming trade relations between both nations and why Singapore is Southeast Asia’s second-largest foreign direct investment and a favorable business destination for Canadian companies. She also touched on how CanCham’s ecosystem provides a soft landing for companies who want to operate in Singapore, including how both countries are working collaboratively to further elevate trade with each other.
Additionally, Caroline spoke about:
- The initiatives put forth by both governments to support trade and investment opportunities
- The strengthening of trade relations between Canada and Singapore, from the onset of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s premiership
- Challenges faced by Canadian companies when operating in Singapore
- The levels of engagements and assistance provided to Canadian companies
- Initiatives and goals for 2023
