Strength of character, virtuosity, open-mindedness and piercing intellect: Khatia Buniatishvili conveys these traits with great intensity. From her piano debut at age 3 to her most recent humanitarian commitments, she embodies the values cherished by Cartier.
“Khatia expresses the essence of who we are. Pure simplicity and expressive romanticism. Delicate exuberance. Unique and universal. Plural singularity. Body and soul, with measure and unbridled energy Khatia embarks us into the dizzying exploration of human emotions and passion”, declared Cyrille Vigneron, President and CEO of Cartier International.
Since her early childhood, Khatia has stood out: at the age of 6, she gave her first concert as a soloist with the Tbilisi Chamber Orchestra and earned the first place at the admission exams of the Tbilisi Conservatory at 16 and the Vienna University of Music and Performing arts at 19.
Following her professional debut in 2008 at Carnegie Hall in New York, she has performed on some of the world’s largest stages: London, Vienna, Amsterdam, Paris, Milan and Shanghai.
Praised across the globe for her interpretation and technique that not only surprise but also provoke, her very personal reading of the composer’s score further accentuates her open-mindedness, profoundness and charisma.
As a committed artist, she is always willing to invest in contemporary issues: child development, refugee aid, climate justice, communicating her passion to these causes with a mix of rock and rebellious energy. A singular and glamorous personality, she is perfectly in line with the women who have created strong connections to Cartier.
“Accepting inessential human needs makes them measurable, prevents their growth into greed. This is how I see Cartier – the golden proportion of glamour… never less, never too much.” – Khatia Buniatishvili
